Milan have attempted to hijack Liverpool's move for Christian Eriksen, Talksport reports.

The Ajax midfielder, courted by Europe's top clubs, has already turned down a move to Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

He said he would be interested in speaking to Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers is rumoured to be keen on him.

Eriksen, 21, already has 36 caps for Denmark and is one of the stars of the Eredivisie, with Ajax facing a battle to keep him.

He has a contract until 2014 and the Dutch side are pushing for a renewal - but Milan's interest appears genuine.

The Serie A giants scouted him last season and are ready to come in with an offer.
