Transfer news: Southampton in battle for Sinclair

Malta Independent Saturday, 27 July 2013, 12:30 Last update: about 12 years ago

Southampton are ready to battle West Brom for the signature of Manchester City flop Scott Sinclair, The Sun reports.

The Saints would be willing to pay £5.5million for the winger — or take him on loan for the whole of the season.

Former Swansea star Sinclair, 24, has made just 11 appearances for City since joining them for £6.2m last summer.

He has failed to score for the Etihad club and his desire for more first-team football looks unlikely after Jesus Navas’ £15m arrival.

Pochettino is looking to bring in a winger and a striker this summer after telling numerous members of his squad they can leave.

West Brom want Sinclair on loan but Saints believe they can lure him to St Mary’s to link up with his brother Jake, 18, who is a trainee at the club.
