Unitel Classica Summer Festival on GO interactive TV

The Unitel Classica Summer Festival  2013 has just kicked off on GO interactive TV. With 7 live broadcasts from the renowned festivals in Salzburg, Lucerne and Bregenz, numerous TV and platform premieres and highlights from the Arena di Verona, the exceptional festival is a first among music lovers all over the world. The Summer Festival kicked off this year at 9:15pm on July 19 with the live broadcast of the popular “Magic Flute” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart exceptionally staged by David Poutney on the lake stage from the Festival in Bregenz. The Vienna Philharmonic Opening Concert at the Salzburg Festival conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt with Joseph Haydn’s The Seasons will be broadcast live later this month on July 28, 8:15 p.m.

Marking the 200th ‘birthday’ of both Richard Wagner and Giuseppe Verdi on the first weekend in August, the Unitel Classica music channel will air Die Meistersinger Von Nürnberg on August 2 and Falstaff on August 3 as part of the Salzburg Festival – each being broadcast live at prime time i.e. 8:15 p.m. GO interactive viewers have even more to look forward to over the 2nd weekend in August on the Unitel Classica TV channel! A total of four spectacular opera productions from the Arena di Verona – celebrating its 100th anniversary – will be shown live over the weekend. The opera productions include Verdi‘s AIDA in a staging based on the original performance that dates back to 1913. On Sunday August 11, music lovers worldwide can await one of Verdi’s most popular operas – La Traviata. Performances will be aired at prime time i.e. 8:15 p.m.

Another highlight from the Salzburg Festival, Verdi’s Don Carlo, starring Jonas Kaufmann, Anja Harteros and Thomas Hampson with the Vienna Philharmonic, conducted by Antonio Pappano and staged by Peter Stein, will be broadcast on August 16 at 8:15 p.m.

A live broadcast this time with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, conducted by Daniel Barenboim will be broadcast on August 18, 8:15 p.m. specifically to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Lucerne Festival. At the anniversary weekend – August 24 and 25 – Unitel Classica music channel will delight TV viewers with another seven concerts from Lucerne starring Claudio Abbado and the Festival Orchestra and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra conducted by Andris Nelsons.

Mozart’s The Abduction from the Seraglio, another special event from the Salzburg Festival, will be performed at Salzburg airport’s Hangar 7 among historic airplanes, racing cars and other vehicles. The original event in unconventional surroundings with star soprano Diana Damrau and others will be broadcast live at 8:15 p.m. on August 26.

The NHK Symphony Orchestra conducted by Charles Dutoit -- another premiere that GO interactive TV viewers will enjoy at the end of the Summer Festival’s ground-breaking music experience – will play works by Toru Takemitsu, Toshio Hosokawa und Hector Berlioz. The concert will air on August 31 at 8:15 p.m.
