Malta Independent Wednesday, 31 July 2013, 11:17 Last update: about 13 years ago

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat accompanied by Michael Galea Chief Officer Operations at Bank of Valletta paid a courtesy visit during the dress rehearsal of the Joseph Calleja concert, which sees the Maltese Tenor himself singing alongside the  BOV Children’s Choir, accompanied by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.

The scene was quite suggestive, with a group of 200 children flanking the musicians of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, It was amazing to watch the excitement on the little ones’ faces. They have been rehearsing hard, under the direction of soprano Gillian Zammit. ‘

Michael Galea, Chief Officer Operations at Bank of Valletta said that BOV was delighted to be the main sponsor of the Joseph Calleja concert. "It is great to see all the elements that will feature in this year's concert, including the BOV Joseph Calleja Children's Choir, come together following many weeks of rehearsals," said Mr Galea. "The efforts and dedication put in by the two hundred children who will participate in this year's concert are truly remarkable and augur well for a most enjoyable and memorable concert  on Thursday which we are all looking forward to".  Following a wide ranging collaboration agreement signed earlier on this year, Bank of Valletta is not only the main sponsor of Joseph Calleja's concert on Thursday, but is also supporting the BOV Joseph Calleja Children’s Choir. The Bank and Joseph Calleja have also agreed to set up The BOV Joseph Calleja Foundation that is set to be launched later on this year.

The Granaries Square in Floriana is rife with activity as preparations for the Joseph Calleja Concert this Thursday are in full swing.  The lead-up to the Concert is an orchestration in its own right. Everything from the design of the stage, the sound, lights and screens are masterfully planned out, tapping the expertise of internationally renowned names.
