Sophie DeBattista, the Maltese singer who is now based in the United Kingdom, recently took part in the Musicalize Concert at London’s IndigO2 Arena.

Musicalize is the leading music company that supports the UK’s best up-and-coming talent. Their monthly gigs have previously included established UK stars Dizzee Rascal, Professor Green, Chipmunk and Misha B among others.

The concert that took place last month was also part of Musicalize’s second birthday celebrations. The all-female lineup included Sophie, who opened the show, Lady Leshurr, The Boxettes, M.O., Little Nikki and American RnB star Ciara, who was the headliner.

Sophie opened with her own version of Price Tag (originally by Jessie J)  and soon had the audience singing along with her. Then she performed an originalsong, Independent Miss which was very well-received, and ended her set on a high by putting her guitar to one side and singing her original song Jump the Gun while dancing from one end of the stage to the other. This had a huge impact on the audience that danced with her throughout.

At the end of her performance an excited Sophie said: “I would like to thank all the lovely people who came down here to support me tonight. I know many of you travelled a long distance to be here, and for me this is absoutely amazing, I feel so blessed. I would also like to thank Ben, Sophie and all at Musicalize, together with all the other fantastic acts tonight for making  me feel very welcome on my debut at a major event”.
