Malta Independent Friday, 2 August 2013, 10:30 Last update: about 11 years ago

Premier side Floriana FC and Division 1 side Marsaxlokk will start the new season with a deduction of six and eight points respectively after sanctions handed to them by the MFA Licensing Board yesterday.

The points deduction comes over pending amounts which were not paid by the clubs by Wednesday’s noon deadline.

Despite being granted a full licence, the MFA?Licensing?Board ordered the six-point deduction for Floriana as from the coming Premier League 2013/2014 season. Dues by Floriana are considered to be around €20,000.

Marsaxlokk, meanwhile, also have dues amounting to €28,0000 and have been docked eight points as from the start of the First Division in 2013/2014.

Prohibitions were also imposed on the clubs until they settle their debts.

Floriana and Marsaxlokk have the right of appeal.
