Sirens Ritter Sport            14

(3-4. 3-3, 4-2, 1-5)

Sirens’ double over their opponents meant that they have steered clear of the bottom rung of the league ladder, in this last match of the second round of play. Exiles are now alone at the foot of the table, with daylight between them and the other teams. Exiles’ French mentor, Aurelien Cousin, was back after his game’s suspension. The lead changed hands no less than seven times throughout the encounter, with Sirens having bthe last laugh, as they edged out Exiles, for their second league victory.

After Sirens’ opening strike, from Alex Attard, it was Exiles with a trio of goals, by Alex Radovic and a brace from captain, Kayne Lanzon. Then it was Sirens’ turn again, as they put in their three goals, from a Csaba Kiss penalty, Attard and Zak Mizzi, to lead after the opening session. Radovic had both teams level in the next period, but Attard and Jurgen Borg gave Sirens a double lead. Peter Borg reduced the arrears for Exiles, with Arpad Babay restoring Sirens’ former advantage. Before the interval Radovic brought Exiles nearer again, for a 6-7 halftime score.

After the break Radovic had both teams level, and Borg gave Exiles the lead, but Sirenss’ reply was a two goal burst, from Kiss and Mizzi, for another Sirens advantage.  Exiles failed to score from a penalty throw, when Alan Grech, who was back in goal for Sirens, saved from Radovic.

Exiles still managed to go ahead once more, before the end of the session, with Lanzon and David Pace Lupi strikes, for a 10-9 lead. In the last quarter a Kiss penalty and another Babay goal had Sirens in the lead. Lanzon again had Exiles on level terms, but Sirens then forged forward, and a three goal spurt agve them the spoils, with another penalty, this time from Babay, and the two foreigners, Babay and Kiss then sealed Sirens’ victory

Sirens scored three times from their seven man ups, and had Babay and Kiss on four goals, with an Attard hat trick. Exiles’ Radovic and Lanzon both scored pokers, as Exiles converted six times from nine man-ups.
