NESCAFÉ Malta has supported the Zabbar local council to roll out the world’s longest dinner table and make it to the Guinness books of records. Last Saturday, 27th July 2013, a 359.7 metre-long table was set up on Sanctuary Street and broke the record for the world’s single longest table made with a one continuous tabletop. The previous world record for the longest table stood at 315 m and was set in Dubai.
Organised as part of the build-up for this year’s Our Lady of Grace feast in September, the feat was achieved with the participation of over 900 guests who had the privilege to be part of this world record as they sat down for dinner at the table.
The idea for the record breaking event was conceived by the Zabbar Local Council’s cultural action team, which originally had planned a sit down meal for the various members of the clubs and committee within the Zabbar community. However when the idea of the Guinness Book of Records was put forward, the action committee with the support of the local council stood up to the challenge to put Zabbar on the record books.
To celebrate this event NESCAFÉ Malta set up a display on location and offered guests a range of flavours of NESCAFÉ coffee. A token of appreciation consisting of a limited edition of 75th anniversary red mugs was also presented to a number of selected guests.
Commenting about this feat, Nestlé Malta corporate communications manager, Alfred Borg said that, “It was a honour and privilege to be partners with the organising committee in such a feat. This world-record embodies the very essence of NESCAFÉ as the world’s leading favourite coffee”.
