Maltese-owned English Language school group EC has relocated its premises in the academic city of Cambridge to accommodate high international demand, while upgrading facilities and the learning environment for its students.
Previously operating from two locations at Sidney Street and Guildhall, the brand new, larger school will now be based under one roof, while retaining a prime location on Burleigh Street. EC Cambridge will remain one of the only language schools to operate in the heart of the city.
Spanning three floors, there will be 14 bright, spacious classrooms that seat up to 14 students each, all equipped with interactive whiteboards. Facilities will also include lifts, a larger reception area, a new student computer lounge, and free Wi-Fi throughout the building.
True to the EC brand, spaces will be modern and airy, with plenty of natural light.
Burleigh Street is bustling with cafés, bars, restaurants, and both specialist and high street shops. Also with the Grafton Shopping Centre just across the road, and the leafy colleges of Cambridge University a few minutes’ stroll away, students will experience Cambridge life to the full on the doorstep of their school.
Michelle Falzon, EC director of operations for Malta and the UK said:
“Cambridge is one of the most incredible cities in the world, with a global reputation for academic excellence, and EC Cambridge has always been one of our most popular schools. As such, demand had outgrown our previous, smaller premises. In choosing a new location, we were careful to select a building capable of offering a comfortable, high spec learning environment in an extremely central location with convenient access to all that the city has to offer.
“The space we now occupy on Burleigh Street is perfect, and I can’t wait to see how our students respond to the outstanding environment we have created.”
EC’s executive chairman, Andrew Mangion said: “As a growing organisation, we are constantly seeking not only to expand our presence in new destination cities, but also to ensure we are offering EC students the best possible experience in our existing schools.
“This move is great news for EC, our students and our agent partners around the world. I am confident that we can build on EC Cambridge’s already excellent reputation, to now offer an even better student experience in this world-class city.”
The brand new centre will open its doors to students on 2 September.
