Ryan Giordmaina (MD, MRCS), who is currently specialising in Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery, was recently awarded the degree of Master of Science in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University.

In part fulfilment of the degree, Mr Giordmaina submitted a dissertation focusing on the impact of blade wear on the performance of surgical saw blades as well as on heat generation during bone cutting.

The Degree was carried out following the award of a Steps scholarship, partly financed by the EU – European Social Fund (ESF) under Operational Programme II – Cohesion Policy 2007-2013.
