Louis Grech resignation reports called a 'total lie'

Malta Independent Sunday, 11 August 2013, 10:29 Last update: about 12 years ago

A spokesperson for the ministry of European Affairs has denied reports that Deputy Prime Minister Louis Grech will be tendering his resignation in the near future.

The Nationalist Sunday paper Il-Mument claimed in an unsigned report that Mr Grech will be handing in his resignation in the coming months.

The paper also claimed that Home Affairs minister Manuel Mallia will be given the deputy leadership, and Michael Falzon will be handed the Home Affairs portfolio.

It said that Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has taken the decision to “promote” Dr Mallia after the minister found himself embroiled in various controversies since the start of the legisulature.

Taking to Twitter, the head of government communications Kurt Farrugia called the report a “total lie.”

"If Simon Busuttil wants to understand why Stamperija is out of business, he just needs to read the fiction in today's Mument,” Mr Farrugia said on Twitter.
