Malta’s Tony Drago and Alex Borg had mixed fortunes yesterday when they played in the first round of the new Indian Open qualifiers.

Drago registered a 4-3 win against Alfie Burden while Alex Borg lost his match against Ricky Walden 4-1.

Drago’s match with Burden was close as the result indicates. The Valletta-born player was leading 3-2 thanks to a fine break of 80, but Burden hit back with his own 73 to draw level at 3-3 in the sixth frame, thus forcing a decider, which Drago went on to win 59-17.
