Jesmond Pulis, 48, of Zabbar was today accused of attempting to grievously injure three persons in Paola yesterday and for having caused considerable damage to their vehicles.
Yesterday, police said that four persons were hospitalised following a three-car collision in Kordin Hill which saw the road temporarily closed to traffic due to an oil spill that leaked from the damaged vehicles, however it’s now been alleged that the incident was 'intentional'.
It all started after Pulis spotted his former partner, Nadia Abela, in another car with Joseph Spiteri – Abela’s partner. Mr Spiteri’s daughter was also in the car.
Pulis allegedly drove his BMW straight into Mr Spiteri’s vehicle, a third vehicle, a taxi, also being hit as a result.
Pulis is being accused of attempting to cause grievous injuries to both Mr Spiteri and his daughter Kirsty, and to Ms Abela.
He was also accused of damaging Mr Spiteri’s Fiat Doblo and causing injury to Mr Sammut, a taxi driver from Sliema and damaging his car and for having driven his BMW recklessly.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was not granted bail.
Lawyer Keith Borg defended the accused while Police Inspector Spiridione Zammit prosecuted.
