Floriana FC and Naxxar Lions shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in their first league commitment yesterday.

The Lions cut a very good figure on their return to the Premier League after a long absence and could have snatched a late winner.

After a goalless first half, in which neither side dominated, the newly promoted Lions managed to take the lead through former Hibernians, Valletta and Malta striker Terence Scerri who scored on the 75th minute.

Floriana, however, fought back admirably and took only four minutes to score a merited equaliser through Gary Muir.

Earlier Floriana had threatened through Coronado who hit the post with Naxxar goalie Azzopardi beaten, but just before the end, it was Brooke Farrugia who saved the day for the Greens as he cleared from over the line a header by Thiago Lopez, destined for the back of the net.
