Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is ready to fight Tottenham for Blackpool starlet Thomas Ince - armed with the cash from the sale of Yohan Cabaye.
Pardew whose only signing this summer has been on-loan Loic Remy, has checked on England Under-21 winger Ince and is convinced he would walk into his Premier League side.
And now the Geordies are poised to meet the £8million asking price for Ince when a fee had been agreed.
Spurs are also keen on Ince, but have been hoping to force the price down.
Now though, White Hart Lane supremo Daniel Levy has competition.
Ince's father and manager Paul wants him to go to a club where he will play and there may be a better chance of that on Tyneside than at big-spending Tottenham.
