Real Madrid are close to finally landing Gareth Bale from Tottenham after making an improved £93million plus Fabio Coentrao offer, Metro reports.

Madrid, who have been pursuing Bale all summer, have already seen a world record £85million bid rejected for the Welshman.

However, an improved offer made on Monday evening looks like being enough.

The deal is worth £100million to Spurs, with £93million being paid in cash, while wing-back Coentrao – valued at £7million – has also been thrown into the package as a sweetener.

Reports in Spain claim Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has given the green light to the deal, which could be completed before the weekend.

If it goes ahead, the transfer brings to an end weeks of speculation over the 24-year-old’s future, which has dominated Tottenham’s early-season preparations.
