Milan's Boateng available again for Ghana

The Ghana Football Association says AC Milan's Kevin-Prince Boateng has made himself available again for selection in the national team.

Boateng retired from internationals following the 2010 World Cup — where Ghana reached the quarterfinals — and didn't play in the 2012 and 2013 African Cups.

The GFA on Thursday published the text of a letter from Boateng to the association in which the midfielder wrote "I have decided to change my decision and confirm my availability to play for the Black Stars whenever I am needed."

The GFA welcomed Boateng's decision "with great pleasure."

Boateng could make his comeback next month in World Cup qualifying. Ghana needs a draw at home to Zambia on Sept. 6 to qualify for Africa's final playoffs for Brazil 2014.
