China Cultural Centre and Santa Lucija Local Council will be holding the China Summer Film Festival 2013 at the Greek Theatre, Santa Lucija at 8pm on 30 and 31 August and on 1 September.
The China Summer Film Festival in Malta is an annual event, on the last weekend of every August, usually held at the Garden of Serenity, aka the Chinese Garden. Although this year due to current refurbishment work, the film festival will be held at the open theatre at the main square, Pjazza 7 ta’ Lulju, Santa Lucija.
The film festival is getting popular, year after year, with cinema goers and foreign films enthusiasts. Three days of films with different themes such as action, traditional, drama, romantic and Chinese history. Some of the films have even been given recognition at international films festivals.

My Spectacular Theater
Time: 30 August (Friday) at 8pm
Duration: 120 minutes
Synopsis: Chen Yu is an unemployed college graduate, who accidently broke into a private theatre owned by an old man, Lao Gao. The theatre specially plays movie for the blinds. With a low budget, Lao Gao hired Chen Yu to be his projectionist. Through the way of playing the movies for the blinds, Chen Yu began to realize the valuable and touchable details in life that are usually neglected by normal people. Synopsis: Bus driver Liao Chenxue is a middle-aged single woman feeling the pressure to get married and to fulfil her dream to see Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa. She meets photographer Guan Yunshan on her bus by chance which leaves her an unpleasant first impression. Guan is unsuccessful both in his pursuit of being a landscape photographer and in his personal life. Their common understanding and dreams cause Liao to fall in love with Guan. Liao gives Guan her valuable and cherished stamp album in order to financially help Guan’s “National Geographic” examination. Guan leaves for his exam while Liao waits for him to return…
Little Big Soldier

Synopsis: The story took place in the 3rd century B.C., China. During then, China was divided into scores of states. Warlords scrambled for territories and great turmoil prevailed. Two of these states, Wei and Liang were fighting against each other. Both armies were annihilated. Only two men survived this bloodbath----a low-ranked, unnamed Liang soldier and a young, brave Wei general. The unnamed Liang soldier wished nothing but live in peace and till on a piece of land of his own, while the young ambitious Wei general attempted to unify China one day and become the king. Which of them would fulfil their dream?
