Liverpool kicked off what is expected to be a frantic transfer deadline day in the Premier League by signing defender Tiago Ilori from Sporting Lisbon on Monday.
Ilori is the sixth signing for the league leaders this summer and they are likely to add more by recruiting forward Victor Moses from Chelsea and center back Mamadou Sakho from Paris Saint-German. All three were at Anfield to watch Liverpool beat Manchester United on Sunday.
London-born Ilori, who has represented Portugal at youth level, says Liverpool " has won a lot of trophies and I want to be a part of it."
Arsenal and Manchester United are expected to be busy in the transfer market Monday. English clubs are already close to spending 500 million pounds ($775 million) in the summer window.
