The University of the Third Age, which forms part of the European Centre for Gerontology of the University of Malta, will be accepting applications from persons interested in attending lectures to be held during 2013/2014, as from Monday 16th September 2013.

This Academic Year, lectures will be held from Monday to Thursday from 0900-1100 at the Floriana Centre and on Tuesday and Thursday from 1700-1900 at the Sliema Centre. The programme will start on Monday 7th October.

Each study unit has a series of 8 sessions of 2 hours each and will include the following:

Development of Political Parties in Malta Part IV: 1960 Onwards (Prof. Joe Pirotta); Malta’s Flora and Fauna (Dr Sandro Lanfranco); Valletta’s Chapels and Shrines (Mr Tony Terribile); The State and the Constitution of Malta (Dr Austin Bencini); The Church since Vatican Council II (Rev. Dr. Rene Camilleri); Archaelogical Heritage of the Maltese Islands (Mr Vincent Zammit); Two Modern Saints: John XXIII and John Paul II (Rev. Dr Joe Galea Curmi); The Order of the Hospital: Aspects of the History of the Knights of St. John (Prof. Victor Mallia Milanes); Ageing: A Sociological Perspective (Prof. Joseph Troisi); Philosophical Problems: An Introduction (Prof. Joe Friggieri); Health Promotion: A Holistic Approach (Dr Suzanne Piscopo); The Arab Spring Movement (Prof. Stephen Calleya);  Objects that Changed the History of the World (Mr John Sare’); The World in our Times “Id-Dinja fi Zmienna” (Prof. Oliver Friggieri); Languages in Malta: Past and Present (Prof. Joseph Brincat); The Pension System in Malta: The Way Forward (Mr Joe Camilleri); Maltese Shrines and Chapels (Mr Tony Terribile); The Development of Malta’s Fortifications (Mr Vincent Zammit); Il-Malti Mitkellem (Spoken Maltese) (Mr Olvin Vella).

Participants who are interested in languages are being offered the following modules:

Spanish for Beginners (Mr Damian Solano Escolano); German for Beginners (Ms Lina Agius); French for Beginners (Prof. Carmen Depasquale); Situational Italian (Dr Anna Porcheddu); Cultura e Civiltà Italiana (Dr Anna Porcheddu).

Application forms may be collected from and handed in at the U3E office of the Floriana Centre, located on the ground floor of the Catholic Institute in Floriana, Monday to Thursday from 0900-1100.
