For the second year in succession LEAD Events is hosting Expats in Malta, an evening event of highly targeted presentations with opportunities to network, on 26 September, 2013, at the InterContinental Hotel, St Julian’s.

Sponsored by EMD and Currencies Direct, Expats in Malta includes two local presentations and two presentations by expats in Malta.

Jankarl Farrugia will be speaking about Networking your way into Malta; and Dr Stephen Balzan will then tackle Taxation for Expatriates. Pippa Maile’s presentation will focus on International Transfers Made Easy; and Cathy Farlam will conclude with a presentation, From South Africa to Malta – A year on.

Mr Farrugia has worked locally and internationally in the hospitality and tourism segment, and more recently was General Manager with Regus, a global leader in workplace solutions. An avid networker, he is also International Advisor for BNI (Business Network International), where he has been actively involved in the inception and growth of five chapters in Malta.

Dr Balzan is a partner of EMD responsible for the International Tax Department. He holds a first degree in Accounting and has worked with two of the Big Three Audit firms in Malta for six years as a tax assistant and later as a manager in the International Tax Department. He also has a great deal of knowledge on corporate matters, company law, management, and administration. He specialises in treaty planning, holding companies, and treasury and finance operations.

Ms Maile, Head of France and Malta at Currencies Direct, will talk about international transfers and payments worldwide, and the savings that can be made by using a specialist company as opposed to a high street bank. Examples will be made on purchasing a property abroad, receiving a pension payment on a regular basis, and payments for businesses.

Ms Farlam is co-founder of Omnicor in South Africa. She will share her experience over the past year of settling in Malta. Ms Farlam is an executive coach and an expert in competency applications and related technical areas.
