Professor Peter Mayo of the University of Malta’s Department of Education Studies, Faculty of Education, has just returned from Berlin where he delivered one of the three keynote addresses at the Triennial Research Conference of the European Society for Research on the Education of Adults held between 4-7 September.

This conference took place at the Humboldt University and centred around the title Changing configurations of adult education in transitional times. Professor Mayo’s address was titled Adult Education Research and the Politics of Indignation.

Immediately prior to his Berlin address, Professor Mayo conducted a seminar for doctoral research students, together with Professor Anna Maria Piusssi at the Università degli Studi di Verona. Professor Mayo is a member of the Collegio Docenti for the doctoral research programme in Scienze della Formazione and Educazione Continua at the University of Verona.

The Berlin keynote was one of two keynote speeches by Professor Mayo scheduled for the month of September. On 19 September he will be delivering the keynote address in the opening session of the eighth Educational Congress of the Polish Educational Association. He will follow this with another talk to be delivered at the Jagiellonski University in Cracow.

Last May he delivered another keynote at the bi-annual critical education conference at the University of Ankara.
