Actavis Ltd. Warehouse Department Manager, Noel Mamo, has been recently certified as an approved Fork Lifter Instructor by the RTITB academy. The certification was held following a 2 week intensive training course in the UK.
RTITB is the largest training body for lift truck accreditiation in the UK and Ireland and its certification complies with standards of the British Health and Safety Authority. It means that Mr Mamo is now authorised to conduct formal training courses for new and exisiting warehouse operators for the Actavis operations in Malta. There are only two other persons in Malta qualified to conduct such forklift training.
The forklift and truck lift training at RTITB academy headquarters in Telford, has been specifically created to develop good safety habits that help to reduce forklift-related accidents and injuries.
“The majority of accidents related to forklifters can be attributed to unsafe operating procedures due to insufficient or inadequate training. Most accidents and injuries are avoidable with effective training” Mr Mamo explained.
“Following an intensive two-week training at Telfork in July, Mr Mamo excelled in the examination before obtaining the certification as fork lifter instructor by the renowned accredited Academy,” Patrick Cachia, Actavic Managing Director said.
“At Actavis, we always promote and provide development opportunities for our employees. Mr Mamo’s experience and knoweldge will now be very useful to train, assess and authorise our warehouse operators in line with the Health and safety at work act of 1974, section 9 of the Provision and Use of work equipment regulations 1998 and the Lifting operations and lifting equipment regulations 1998. Mr Mamo has over 25 years of experience and has led and coached personnel at Actavis Ltd in various warehouse operations.
