The Department of Biology within the Faculty of Science at the University of Malta, in collaboration with Institut Méditerranéen de Biodiversité et d’Ecologie marine et continentale and ECOOCEAN, will be organising a series of six evening lectures that are being launched under the general title Topics in Marine Biology.

The lectures, which will be held between 5 and 7pm during the period 2 to 4 October (both dates inclusive), will be delivered by foreign marine biologists who will cover various topics, including Ryan and Pittman's Noah's Flood Theory, coral bleaching and reconstruction of time events using stony corals, caves and deep sea ecosystems, exploration of Mediterranean submarine canyons and Mediterranean seagrass ecology.

The sixth and last lecture in the series will comprise five short presentations by Maltese research scientists who have just completed their postgraduate studies at the Department of Biology.

The Maltese scientists will present their findings of research on cobble bed habitat, functional diversity of seabed habitats, suitability of jetties to support marine life, influence of water movement on seagrass Posidonia oceanica and deep water habitats around the Maltese Islands.

All lectures will be held in the New Biology Resources Room, Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, University of Malta.
