Simon Busuttil meets China’s ambassador

Malta Independent Sunday, 29 September 2013, 08:48 Last update: about 13 years ago

The Leader of the Opposition has met the Chinese ambassador after having stated that he wouldn’t want to have China’s finger on Enemalta’s!

What amazes me about Dr Busuttil’s statement is not that he keeps making one gaffe after another, but that he didn’t realise that he was greatly undermining his and his party’s credibility and trust with the world’s second greatest economy which is China! Is it possible that it didn’t cross his mind that what he said about the Chinese government would be noted and recorded by the Chinese government?

And that if, say, in 20 years’ time Simon Busuttil becomes leader of our country, he would find it next to impossible to do any business with China, which by then is expected to overtake the United States of America as the world’s greatest economic power?

Dr Busuttil keeps confirming that he is not the kind of leader who can inspire confidence and trust, not just among the Maltese people, but even less with foreign governments, especially those outside the European Union.

No wonder DynastyPN kept their leader’s meeting with the Chinese ambassador closed to the media except their own!
