I would like to express my appreciation of the Juann Mamo Conference on 26 October, organised by the Department of Maltese at the University of Malta under the auspices of Education Minister Evarist Bartolo.

I think the newly refurbished Valletta Campus was an ideal place for the occasion and, in addition, the conference was open to all students and all those interested in literary works, educational or otherwise. I attended the entire day-long conference, the theme of which was Nistghu Ma Niktbux Il-Veru?, and enjoyed every moment of it. It is difficult to mention the many literary aspects of the novel tackled by the University staff and others, so varied and interesting were they.

The cinema link towards the end of the conference by Dr Immanuel Mifsud was, in my humble opinion, a most welcome and beautiful statement about the Maltese writer Juann Mamo.
