The government and the Church have reached an agreement on amendments that will be made to the 1992 marriage law for the Church Tribunal to no longer be superior to the Civil Court on matters of marriage annulment, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said.
He was speaking on the TVM programme Dissett.
Dr Muscat said that the two sides have come to terms but the formalities need to be ironed out. He would not give a date as to when the agreement will be made official and signed.
On other matters, Dr Muscat said that the police should have handled matters better in certain circumstances, although he did not indicate which they were. He said the Labour government will focus on health during 2014, saying that the John Dalli report will show the lack of management that existed under the previous administration.
