A joint collaboration programme between PBS, Radio Vaticana and Centro Televisivo Vaticano has been defined during discussions held at the Vatican betwween PBS Chairman Tonio Portughese and a Vatican delegation led by Padre Federico Lombardi, Director of the Sala Stampa. Fr Lombardi, a leading communication practitioner, will deliver a training session in communications to local journalists early next year in an initiative undertaken by PBS as part of this agreement. Fr Lombardi is also the Director General of Radio Vaticana and the Vatican's official spokesman.

PBS Chairman Tonio Portughese took part in these constructive discussions together with Mons Dario Vigano', director of Centro Televisivo Vaticano; Fr Andrea Koprowski, Head of Radio Programmes, Alberto Gasbarri, Administration director and Organizer of the Pope's overseas travelling and Giacomo Ghisani, director of the International Relations of Radio Vaticana.

The agreement addresses  cross fertilization and knowledge sharing areas of professional and editorial issues, and recognizes PBS as Malta's national broadcasting provider in radio, television and web, and gives it a  privileged access to the Vatican's historical footage about major events and also documentaries also in view of next April's sanctification of Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul II. The Vatican media entities will extend their full technical support for any event that PBS undertakes to cover for its televiewers or radio listeners.
