It was a night of luxury, heritage and entertainement at Le Meridien Hotel & Spa, St Julian’s recently when 202 Jewellery launched a preview of the great collection of Swiss Edox Timepieces.

Especially for this red-carpet event was Christian Hotz, Marketing Director of the prestigious Edox Swiss watches, and live entertainment for distinguished guests was provided by Airport Impressions. Another highlight of the event was the announcement of Edox’s support of motorsports in Malta. This was announced during the unveiling of Steve Borg’s Vintage Mini embellished with EDOX branding. Steve Borg will be competing in Malta’s Hill Climb circuit.

The lavish event was supported by Porsche, Le Meridien Hotel & Spa and supported by Wheelspin who on the night conducted a Special interview with Mr Hotz. The Multiviewed Fashion programme Venere took the oppotunity to theme a programme around the event with an elegant clash of Fashion, Motors & most of all Style.

Amongts the collection of fabulous watches on display, the accent was of distinctive design, quality and history, especially the newely launched Chronodakar Special Limited Edition model created to celebrate the appointment of Edox as the official Timekeeper of the 2014 Dakar Rally.  EDOX are also official Timekeepers for Class-1 World Powerboat Championship, Extreme Sailing Series and official partner of Christian Redl, the Iceman.

The Edox story begins with a true love story. In 1884, the founder Christian Ruefli-Flury produced a pocket watch for his beloved wife Pauline’s 25th Birthday.

Mr Ruefli-Flury was a highly talented and romantic “Maître-Horloger” from Grenchen in Switzerland. Impressed by this watch he created for her 25th birthday, Christian’s wife convinced her husband to set up his own watch-making company in Biel, a city famous for its highly skilled watch-makers. Christian Ruefli-Flury called his company “Edox” that means, “measuring of time” in ancient Greek.

In 1900, there was the birth of the logo. The hourglass was officially used as a timeless symbol of Edox and since then, it has been a proud part of the official Edox company logo.

Edox watches are unique as they still hand assemble their watches in their factory in the Swiss mountains. Each watch is unique, a work of art and a testament to Swiss “Maître-Horloger” skill and expertise. Edox is amongst Switzerland’s leading watch companies.

The proud Edox Collection may be viewed at the 202 Jewellery retail outlets in Sliema and Fgura.
