Dr Simon Busuttil has, at long last, admitted that a certain person, described by the local press (not The Malta Independent) as a millionaire with very shady connections in Australia, paid for his accomodation in Sydney while he was on his trip ‘down under’. He has further added that he does not know nor has ever met this person!

It is surely unacceptable that a leader of a political party, aspiring to become prime minister some time in the distant future, should accept such a favour even from someone he knows very well – let alone a person he knows nothing about, and has never met!

Could not such a person be involved in illegal activities or other shady business? In fact, what has been reported about this person in the Sunday paper illum, as well as in l-orizzont and on One News, also quoting Australian sources, prove that the PN leader has again gaffed in a big way! I would have thought Dr Busuttil would have learned something from Tonio Fenech’s ‘Maltese clock’ story as well as his acceptance of a free flight and ticket on a private jet to see his favourite team, Arsenal, play in Spain!
