Dr Ganado is best known as a keen collector of Melitensia and maps of Malta in particular. He has written extensively on the subject and on other aspects of Malta's history. Heritage Malta acquired 450 maps from him in 2008 and these are now known as the Albert Ganado Malta Map Collection. Dr Ganado, a lawyer by profession, was awarded the degree of Doctor of Literature (Hon. Causa).
