In further corroboration to our letter of the 1st instant, we would moreover like to bring to your attention another graver concern regarding above captioned, this time with reference to a Social Studies booklet being used at present to “teach” fourth year students at the Maria Regina Primary School College in Naxxar (relative abstract being attached).

As you will be able to assess, the section that deals with Maltese hunting and trapping practices contains several inaccuracies, some of which can be termed fallacies. To add insult to injury, the conclusive paragraph, besides being totally out of subject insofar as it concerns the subject matters of hunting, trapping and bird-watching, is clearly intended to be interpreted to portray hunters and trappers as drunkards who, as a consequence end up in daily quarrels with their wives once they get home inebriated. In this regard, yet again, we must strongly voice our Federation’s concern regarding such incessant, uninterrupted and unchecked discriminatory campaign of “brainwashing” schoolchildren and students, who are being “taught” to disrespect and disapprove of their parents, simply because they are hunters and/or trappers.

We therefore, again appeal to you, Honourable Minister, to look into these serious issues, to investigate this specific incident, and repeat our request for dialogue with the FKNK with the intention to evaluate our concerns, not only as hunters and trappers but also as parents.
