Valletta United 7 Sliema Frank Salt Real Estate 9
(1-2), (3-2), (1-4), (2-1)
Sliema Frank Salt registered an important victory against a plucky Valletta United side who made the Blues go all the way for their victory.
Sliema started well taking a two goal lead through Brownrigg and Cluett while Valletta pulled one back through a Ranier Scerri penalty. The second session was quite animated and ended up 3-2 in favour of Valletta who were giving Sliema quite a run for their money with the latter seeming strangely sluggish. Scerri, Bonello Ghio and Debono scored for the Citizens while Sliema replied through Meli and Attard.
Valletta faded badly in the third session in which Sliema emphasised their superiority winning by four goals to one. Here Aquilina, Attard and Sullivan scored for Sliema with Zammit replying in a lone Valletta excursion. Valletta recovered again in the final session but a crucial goal by Brownrigg restored a two goal lead which Sliema kept until the end.
