Grievances Unit complaints receipt period extended

Malta Independent Thursday, 13 March 2014, 17:25 Last update: about 12 years ago

The date for cases to be put to Grievances Units in the various ministries has been extended to 21 March because of the number of requests being made to the units, the government said today.

The units are to investigate cases of claimed injustices presented by officials or public employees who retired from work.

Retired officials and public employees should present their case at the permanent secretariat of the ministry where they last worked before retiring, and they should include where possible all related documents. Cases are to be presented in writing and should lay out the request being made, and the claimed injustice.

Injustices cases which have already been decided by court tribunals should not be presented to the units unless there is new information about the case. Where a claimed injustice has already been decided by the Ombudsman, the unit would be able to investigate the case if the Ombudsman’s opinion was not implemented or the injustice not dealt with.
