La Salle BHS beat Aloysians for third title in a row

La Salle BHS held on to their 100% record following an impressive win in the decisive league match over arch rivals Aloysians.

La Salle, who this season remain unbeaten, secured their 11th consecutive handball honour in a row.

Under the guidance of Krisztjan Olschleger and Pierre Vassallo La Rosa, La Salle won the Men’s first division league for the seventh time in their history.

The match started off at an electrifying pace. In front of a record number of spectators, both teams cancelled each other’s advantage. The first half ended 13-11 in favour of La Salle.

During the second half, Aloysians tried to fight their way back into the match but never managed to keep up with the Lasallians.

Wingers Ian Turban and Bendik Holstad distinguished themselves with fine goals during the whole encounter. Goalkeeper John Scicluna stole the lime light affecting some outstanding saves in the Lasallian goal.

The match ended 28-24. Krisztjan Olschleger, scorer of nine goals ended up as the league’s top scorer with a total of 76 goals this season.

After the match, MHA President, Louis Borg, presented the trophy to La Salle BHS captain Andrew Said. This was the third league title in a row for La Salle BHS.
