Snooker: Mixed results for Malta team at European team championships

Malta is taking part in the 2014 EBSA European Team Snooker Championships which are being played on 16 tables at the Hotel Caro, Bucharest in Romania, this week.

There are three categories in these championships - the Ladies, Men and Masters (Over 40). Malta will be participating in the Men’s event with Team Malta composed of local champion Duncan Bezzina and No. 1 ranked player Alex Borg. 
The Malta team started its commitments with a 5-0 rout of Romania 7 yesterday. But then it was defeated 3-2 by Bulgaria in its second match.
In other matches, Wales also registered a 5-0 win yesterday morning against Romania 4. Israel also ran out winners by the same scoreline against Romania 8. And it was also easy for Poland who defeated Belgium 5-0.
Team Malta is in Group C which also includes Wales, Israel and Germany. Matches in the round robin stages will be over the best of 5 frames.
