Malta Independent Sunday, 6 April 2014, 09:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

‘The No-Makeup Selfie’ is a campaign to increase cancer awareness. In the UK, the no-makeup selfies raised up to £8 million for cancer research in six days. In Malta many personalities are participating in this campaign and other females are encouraged to the same. The idea is to take a picture of your face in its natural state, i.e. with no makeup, and post it on the internet and nominate others to do the same. These selfies are being posted for a good cause, which is to increase cancer awareness.

Additionally, a page called “No Makeup Selfie For Cancer Awareness” was created on Facebook where men and women that took part in this campaign are represented. Many people are participating in this campaign including celebrities

This phenomenon of the social media is urging people to take part in this campaign by taking a selfie of their unmade-up face and donating, through a text message, to cancer charity foundations on the following Hospice Malta SMS numbers – 5061 7385 (€2.33), 5061 8100 (€4.66), 5061 9234 (€11.65)
