Opposition leader Simon Busuttil this evening argued that a Labour government is merely interested in marketing manoeuvres and has failed to work for a 'better Malta'.
Addressing a political event at Siggiewi, Dr Busuttil criticised the government for only signing deals with a private hospital this morning, when, at the same time, Dr Busuttil was visiting St James Hospital.
The PN leader said that under Nationalist administration, Mater Dei engaged in cooperation programmes with private hospitals aimed at reducing waiting lists; however this was halted after a change in government, until the deal signed this morning.
Dr Busuttil criticised Joseph Muscat for calling the Labour Party the 'underdog', saying it is only obvious that after the result of the last election, the PN is indeed the underdog. He said that the PN should analyze last year's election results to strengthen the PN's strategy; and they aim to elect the third seat in the European Parliament- however it is not realistic to believe that they could surpass the Labour party in only one year.
The Opposition Leader said that the health sector has suffered the consequences following the numerous staff transfers after a change in government. Regarding employment, Dr Busuttil said that there are currently 2,000 women looking for jobs, and the government should not only boast about increasing facilities for women to go out and work, but rather should offer jobs.
He argued that that deficit in the first three months of this year have increased by €60 million euros, and the government is only boasting about last year's percentage to cover this up.
