Sports Day on Grognet Street, Mosta

Malta Independent Sunday, 27 April 2014, 08:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

I have just received a notice from the Mosta local council that it is organising a Sports Event on 16 May 2014 in Grognet Street from 9am to noon. For this reason, they have asked us to leave the street free from parking. Access to garages will also not be possible.

Since the primary school is located in this street, we are subjected to continuous hassle during school hours, especially when the street is closed to traffic in the morning and in the afternoon. This goes on even in summer because of Skolasajf!

We have to put up with all the noise and mess that is left lying about.

So now there is going to be a sports day organised and, once again, we residents have to grin and bear it.

Why doesn’t the council organise the event in a more appropriate setting away from residential areas, rather than in a street? There are always outings being organised all year round everywhere.

I suppose I should expect that this will continue to be a yearly event because that is what happens usually... once something starts, it will be very difficult to stop.

Nobody would really like such an event to be held in their street, would they?

I hope that this matter will be re-considered.
