Malta International Airport recently participated in the successful initiative Job Bridge - the pre-employment programme tailored for persons with disability, aimed at making it easier for them to journey into the workforce. As one of the corporations to support the programme, Malta International Airport provided trainees with a tour of their premises, explaining what goes on in each department and the roles and responsibilities of the various employees. Participants were given tips about how to pack clothes into their luggage and how to prepare oneself when going abroad. Malta International Airport branded luggage was donated as a souvenir of the occasion. The session also saw participants go through the check-in process giving them an understanding of the main security procedures and taught how to prepare themselves for a flight. This tied in with the design of the programme which was set up to enhance independent life skills, social skills and employability skills. “One of the benefits of working at an airport is that you’re in touch with diversity every single day. We believe a lot in having an inclusive society and one of the main ways of achieving this is to facilitate persons who might need training to acquire certain skills. This is why we chose to support Job Bridge, for the second time running,” said Malta International Airport Head of Human Resources Christine Camilleri.  Last March, Education Minister Evarist Bartolo and the Prime Minister’s wife Mrs. Michelle Muscat awarded six Job Bridge trainees for successfully completing the course. The programme was administered by the Employment and Training Corporation (ETC) and aims to give specialised training to its clients, making it easier for them to find a job. The ETC have now commenced the second program and once again the Malta International Airport will be participating in this initiative by hosting another group of participants.
