ICON launches an Online Platform for ‘Voice of the Workers’

Malta Independent Friday, 23 May 2014, 14:24 Last update: about 13 years ago

The Voice of the Workers project (ESF 4.221) is led by the Union HaddiemaMaghqudin (UHM), in partnership with the Malta Council for Economic and Social Dialogue (MCESD) and the ConfederazioneItalianaAgricoltori (CIA) and co-financed by the European Social Fund.

The online tool is a central platform from which members of the Voice of the Workers can access reliable information on matters relating to social dialogue, easily without any dependency. Built on open source technology, the Voice of the Workers portal allows access to exclusive content and the monthly Social Dialogue Magazine free of charge for registered members.

ICON (http://www.icon.com.mt) developed the website with features allowing members to exchange their views and opinions on various topics through group forums as well as engage in live chats.

In its second phase, The Voice of the Workers website (http://www.voiceoftheworkers.eu) will also offer a training portal offering Social Dialogue Training courses free for everyone. Registered members of the site can book courses online. These courses involve a mixture of offline and online training. All the training and the online platform itself has been provided to further develop the capacity of workers to actively contribute to social dialogue in Malta. This is a means to implement effective partnerships and to contribute to the sustainable development of Malta.

Job vacancies will be listed on the site and users will be able to apply for jobs and participate in current polls and surveys.

"As a result of this project, workers will be in a stronger position to reach an informed opinion about issues relating to their roles as labourers and as citizens. This will subsequently enable them to actively contribute to social dialogue in Malta." - Dr. Gege Gatt - Director ICON

"We would like to thank ICON for its guidance and execution of this project. It has been a pleasure working with the entire team from start to finish and the end result exceeded our expectations." -Josef Vella – UHM
