World famous Japanese Professor and the head of the School of Koryu-Toyoki’ in Japan, Riho Miyamoto recently held a presentation on the Far East technique of Ikebana at Seashells Resort at Suncrest. The event was extremely well attended by both members of the Malta Horticultural Society, hotel guests and the general public.

In her presentation Prof Miyamoto explained the concepts ofsuibokuka and suibokuka-temae. Prof Miyamoto explained how the art of Ikebana flower arrangement can be an extension of the art of music, dance and poetry and how these form of art can work together. Assisted by her own scholars and son, Prof Miyamoto’s presentation was divided into the three main areas flower arrangement, poetry recital and dancing. 

The seminar formed part of the annual flower exhibition organised by the Malta Horticultural Societyat San Anton on the weekend of the 17 and 18th May.
