On Friday the 30th of May, 2014, the staff at the branches and the departments of Bank of Valletta united in an effort to raise money towards Puttinu Cares Football and Volleyball marathon by participating in a Jeans Day. Customers who visited branches on the day also contributed towards this noble cause.

The 60-hour football and volleyball marathon kicks off on Friday 6th June at the Marsa Sports Grounds and will be running through until the 8th of June. This marathon is one of the largest fund-raising initiatives organised by Puttinu Cares. More than 800 football teams will be teaming up in this 60-hour rally with one main focus – helping those in need.

BOV Chairman, Mr John Cassar White, spoke of the noble cause. “The hardships that the concerned families go through are inexplicable. Through a collective effort we can make a difference and this is the intention behind this rally. The Bank has set up the The Marigold Foundation – BOV in the Community, the Bank’s social arm with the primary aim to support worthy causes and philanthropic initiatives. Bank of Valletta has been at the forefront in supporting the Puttinu Cares Support Group having also participated in supporting the Sutton project - a development of 12 apartments that accommodate families of the children receiving treatment for cancer at the nearby Royal Marsden Hospital.”

The Puttinu Cares Cancer Support Group, which was set up in 2002, gives support to the families of children suffering from cancer and undergoing treatment.

Mrs Michelle Muscat, the Chairperson of The Marigold Foundation - BOV in the Community will be presenting the donation during the Puttinu Cares Football and Volleyball Marathon.
