WasteServ’s‘Collect & Win with Plastic Bottles’ campaign is giving positive results as recycling of plastic at Civic Amenity sites increased in 2013 over the previous year. Plastic waste from these facilities went up by some 18,600kgs in 2013 over 2012.
Plastic is one of the least desirable waste streams to enter the landfill as it can take hundreds of years to degrade.Launched in August of 2012, the Collect and Win campaign aims to minimise the amount of plastic being landfilled while simultaneously encouraging more usage of the Civic Amenity sites.
To participate, one must take a minimum of 10 plastic beverage bottles to a CA site and tickets are then entered into a quarterly prize draw.
The campaign is now in its eighth cycle. Winners of thelatest draw were Claudia Diacono from Qormi, Kira Cremona from Mosta, Sarah Sciberras from Santa Venera, Maria Bellizzi from Mosta and Sera Gatt from Msida. Winners were recently presented with their prizes by WasteServ CEO, Mr Tonio Montebello.
The Collect & Win lottery is still ongoing with a draw every three months. Prizes area weekend break on half board basis at the Downtown Hotel Gozo, a voucher of €100 sponsored by Mdina Glass, a voucher of €75 from Arkadia Group and two vouchers of €50 each sponsored by The Point.
WasteServ thanks the sponsors for their continued support of the campaign.
