APS Bank would like to congratulate the Malta Business Bureau’s EU LIFE+ Water Project which was awarded first place in the National Enterprise Support Awards. The project was launched in October 2011 and has since saved 141 million litres of water per annum. APS Bank participated on two fronts of the project, by financially supporting Life+ Water, as well as involving the bank during the running of the project.
The Life+ Water Project was an EU initiative that aimed to assist organisations, in particular businesses and hotels, to reduce water consumption – minimising water waste. The initiative included recommendations, training and knowledge sharing on how enterprises can reduce water waste as part of their daily operations. APS Bank is proud to have sponsored such an initiative which leads to better environment sustainability for the Maltese Islands. With water being such a scarce resource on a global scale, even contributions from small countries such as Malta can have a significant impact.
Whilst beneficial to the environment, it’s important to note that the initiative was also a success from a business operations point of view. Apart from aiding the environment and reducing water waste, there were long term impacts on organisations that formed part of the initiative. Saving water also had an impact on operational costs since the cost of water was effectively reduced. A total of 135 local enterprises benefited from this scheme and contributed to the initiative.
