Giardino Mediterraneo, the new Marsaxlokk Pizzeria owned by the same pizzaioli who recently founded the Italia Malta Pizza Association, has participated in the 14th edition of the ‘Campionato Italiano Assoluto di Pizza’, which was held in Rome between the 26th and 28th May.

The competition is the most prestigious and most well attended world-wide and as such is referred to as the ‘campionato assoluto’ to distinguish it from other competitions.

The Maltese pizzeria was represented by Pizzaiola and Pizza instructor Veronica Azzaro in the estero (foreign) category where Ms Azzaro managed to place first out of 361 participants. This is a great achievement both for Malta and for the owners who managed to put their name on top of the best pizzas in the world list.

The trophy is on display at the Giardino Mediterraneo Pizzeria in Marsaxlokk and may be viewed by whoever visits the pizzeria, which is currently celebrating the achievement.
