(2-5, 1-3, 2-5, 6-3)

Sliema tered their group with this victory over M’scala, which initially pointed to a runaway score, but M’scala had a good ending to the match, which had them obtaining more than a respectable scoreline.

Sliema recovered Jerome Gabarretta, who missed their defeat to Neptuners in the President’s Cup.

Sliema, slowly but steadily edged away from their opponents, to register an 8-3 halftime score, and improved on that after the break, but the end of the match was nearly all M’scala, who finished on a top note, evade a similar score to their previous game, against Neptunes.

(2-7, 1-7, 3-6, 1-4)

Neptunes had already obtained a solid result, against M’scala, but they improved on it in this next game, totting up the highest score yet, so early in the season.

For the second match running, coach, Serghey Markoch, did not utilise his Hungarian, Peter Biros, who stayed outside the water, but the other players more than made up for his absence, as they hammered at ta Xbiex’s rearguard repeatedly, to forge ahead, at 14-3, at the interval. They were still goal hungry in the second part of the match, but Ta Xbiex, who paraded Sean Gravina (ex-Neptunes), were more adventurous after the break.

Neptunes converted two of their three man ups, whilst Ta Xbiex could only net once, from five. The usual Steve Camilleri scored a double hat trick, with his brother, Jordan, netting four times, and three goals each, from Niki Lanzon and tamas Molnar. (0-5, 1-3, 3-6, 3-7)

Otters had already been heavily beateh by the Saints, the week before, but for Sirens it was their first group commitment, starting off in fine style, with their changed side from last season. They denied the Gozitans in the opening session, whilst scoring five times, and from then on it was plain sailing, as they won all four sessions of play, with Otters coming more into the picture after the interval, when Sirens’ firm grip on the match began to slacken a little.

Sirens made good use of their man ups, scoring six times from eight occasions. Otters only netted twice from six extra player instances. Sirens had three players on a poker of goals, their foreign imports, Italian,Christian Presciutti and Hungarian Csaba Kiss, along with Zak Mizzi. San Giljan continued on their good start, against Otters, to record another high score victory, when facing the Southerners. M’xlokk had a good match, despite their loss to Exiles, but this time around they found the Saints too hard a nut to crack. M’xlokk did find the opposing net twice in the opening session, but then they had to wait till late in the match to score again. Meanwhile San Giljan were scoring at regular intervals, and they had already made sure of the result by the interval, when leading 11-2.

The Montenegro new man for the Saints, Alex Radovic, powered in a double hat trick, and Karl Galea scored on four occasions from close range, whilst Croatian, Zejliko Kovacic, managed a hat trick of goals. Otto Frick scored twice in the closing stages of the match, for M’xlokk.
