How often does it happen to be in the same room with 66 paintings of a high level artist and the artist himself? It was a unique opportunity for a group of BOV employees and their families who met up with artist Anthony Mahoney whose works of art are presently on display at the BOV Head Office in Sta. Venera forming part of this year’s BOV Retrospective Art Exhibition.
Here is what some of the employees present for this event had to say about their experience.
Caroline Sammut - “I was quite amazed to see the smooth, ethereal effects created with the use of a palette knife, a tool known to produce texture. The colours in the paintings continued to emphasise the angelic, heavenly mood in most of the works, featuring themes of spring, rebirth and Christ.”
Sandra Maresca “What impressed me about the artist was his simple way of explaining matters, and the words of encouragement, hints and ideas to those interested in taking up painting. His passion in describing the story behind each of his paintings including the research he did was very educational in itself. What impressed me most was the honesty and the way the artist expressed his love towards nature and humanity through his paintings.”
Megan Abdilla aged nine said “I would like to thank you for the opportunity to meet Mr. Mahoney. I was very interested in the exhibition. Mr. Mahoney was very clear in explaining his tactics and his works, and went into great depth explaining the thoughts that went through his mind when painting. His passion shown through him.”
Mario Lentini told us“This was a very interesting experience. Anthony Mahoney’s passion for art is very emotional... letting himself go with tide of imagination orchestrated by the power of our Saviour...our Lord.”
Works by artist Anthony Mahoney shall remain on display at BOV’s Head Office in Cannon Road, Sta. Venera until the 4th of July 2014.
