All set for Alive Foundation’s 2014 Cycle Challenge From Prague to Belgrade

Malta Independent Friday, 4 July 2014, 08:25 Last update: about 12 years ago

Given the huge logistical implications in transporting 45 cyclists, bicycles and any other equipment needed for a ten-day cycling challenge across eastern Europe, only a fully-fledged logistics partner such as Express Trailers could come in and support.

The second edition of the Malta Airport - ALIVE2014 Cycling Challenge for Cancer will see 45 male and female cyclists cycling across five European cities: from Prague to Vienna to Bratislava to Budapest and finally to Belgrade, from 9th to 18th July 2014. This challenge is being held in collaboration with the Action for Breast Cancer Foundation and Europa Donna Malta.

“Being an avid cyclist myself and having had the opportunity to cycle across Europe to raise funds for charitable causes, I am fully empathic with the challenge that these 45 cyclists are going to embark upon and this is why Express Trailers has accepted to proudly sponsor their expedition,” said Franco Azzopardi, Chairman and CEO of Express Trailers.

“Our support towards this challenge stems from the fact that as a company with such a heavy presence on the roads, Express Trailers respects all vulnerable road users, ranging from other car drivers, motorcyclists, pedestrians but also the countless runners and cyclists who use the roads for their regular training. We want to promote the importance that this vulnerability goes protected.”

“We are indeed a country with many individuals who choose to dedicate their time, their energy and commitment to helping those who are in need and we commend such initiatives which not only benefit those in need but also help nurture a stronger character and will power in those who face such challenges,” concluded Franco Azzopardi.

Over € 45,000 have been raised so far, which means 70% of the projected goal of €65,000. These funds will go to the University of Malta in its important research in the field of breast cancer.
