Robbie Williams is known for his exuberant live performance, but during his Swings Both Ways show in Newcastle last week the singer fell off stage and injured a fan in the process.
Williams, 40, took a tumble after strutting down a catwalk-like part of the stage at Newcastle's Metro Radio Arena and leaning down to high-five fans in the front of the crowd. The security guards were on standby and the pop star appeared to recover quickly, joking, "that went well" after he finished his song with a clumsy forward roll back on to the stage.
However, during the fall Williams broke a fan's arm. Margaret Nash, 52, was sent to hospital by the fall after medics treated her at the Metro Radio Arena for pain in her arm. The venue's manager Paul Tappenden said that they were later told that Nash had broken her arm.
Tappenden said: "Robbie was walking around on stage and missed his footing, and he fell on to the barrier between the stage and the crowd. Ms Nash was leaning against the barrier and we later found out that she had broken her arm."
"We dealt with her injuries here on the night".
Nash later went to hospital, and reportedly has had her whole right arm set in plaster. Tappenden said that the Metro Radio Arena told Williams' production company who had contacted Nash, and that the two were now talking to each other.
The Mirror reports that Nash's daughter Katie sent a tweet to the singer, which said: "You fell on my mam and she’s been in hospital with a broken arm. You never even said sorry."
According to ITV, Williams was unaware he had hurt anybody at the time.
